The great Jack Kirby drew the first nine issues of CAPTAIN AMERICA when the Star-Spangled Avenger was finally awarded his own book in 1968. I loved Kirby work on the book (still do) so you can imagine my shock and awe when the above comic book showed up on the spinner rack. Simply magnificent cover by the legendary Jim Steranko. No captions or word balloons are necessary for this image. Steranko did the interior art on this issue and a couple of more before leaving the book. It's a short, but highly memorable run of breathtaking comic art.
